Much like the first, it is a detailed description of another beautifully designed and maintained landscape. Poe's ability to elucidate physical existence from his stories that come to life in the readers imagination is astonishing. I wonder if anyone has mapped out one of his physical descriptions to validate the accuracy of his measurements. I also wonder if someone has been inspired to paint one of his Arnheim landscapes. I really hope that all "Poe newbies" like me can get here. Please, let me tell you that you're my hero (specially after I read your entry about the alleged Valentine Poe "wrote" to Frances Osgood. Virginia is also my hero for this. She should be so awesome!. And that's definitely one of my favorite entries along with the Eureka's, The Domain of Arnheim, The Philosophy of Furniture and the similar entries). Keep up the amazing work restoring Edgar's memory. He deserves it so much!.Best regards and wishes from Chile and Happy New year 2017!. The poem is a beautiful and worthy tribute, which completely avoids the triteness which is almost always the hallmark of mortuary panegyrics. Its author must not have been completely unknown in his day; for his composition is much above the standard fare published in contemporary newspapers or even in literary magazines like Graham's. He may even have known Poe personally, since he was able immediately to challenge Griswold's canard about his having been "friendless." You are to be congratulated for having rescued this poem from obscurity, as yours is the first and only citation on Google for it.Manuel A.Tellecheahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08637085685599554349noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3301183716564462573.post-64801342374538760802015-04-27T21:00:22.089-07:002015-04-27T21:00:22.089-07:00And here, for you and for Mr. Poe, is something so...And here, for you and for Mr. Poe, is something soothing called "Luftschloss":

m.youtube.com/watch?v=W6puzWP8CU4Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3301183716564462573.post-69104072838790419702015-04-27T20:49:21.345-07:002015-04-27T20:49:21.345-07:00If you hadn't told me, I would have almost tho...If you hadn't told me, I would have almost thought this was something by Thoreau.

Yes, yes, I know, Thoreau was considered one of Emerson's apostles, though he irritated the old boy when he dared put his principles in action; yet I think it a pity that he and Poe never became friends. Thoreau was at once a lot more grounded than most of the other Frog-Pondians (he knew how to invent useful things, and that, along with his surveying skills, brought him and his family more than enough money to live comfortably all of his adult life, and he did it pretty much in his spare time), and a lot more effective in turning his dreams into reality.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3301183716564462573.post-77696666346739572142015-04-27T20:11:22.504-07:002015-04-27T20:11:22.504-07:00I'm fresh out of gin; will aquavit do?
